The City of Wilton Manors is located just north of downtown Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  The city has a population of  12,582 (2020).  Being a separate city from Fort Lauderdale gives Wilton Manors a true small town feeling.  Only 2.2 square miles in size, it is easy to navigate. Wilton Manors, the "Island City", was incorporated in 1947.  The city limits are the North Fork and South Fork of the Middle River, Making the city an Island that lies between Fort Lauderdale and Oakland Park.  Many neighborhoods have water lots, ocean access and breathtaking views.  With mixed use zoning the city offers townhomes as well and multi family units and single family homes.


Over recent years, Wilton Manors has experienced tremendous economic revitalization.  Both commercial and residential property values continue to increase, giving proof of the Island City's economic rejuvenation.  Along the Drive, the city's Arts and Entertainment District features an array of shops, restaurants, gallery's and entertainment venues situated along a pedestrain friendly corridor.

A very large LGBT community has grown over the last 25 years. The City has several recreational facilities, including Colohatchee Nature Park, which feature a nature boardwalk, dog park and a boat ramp for watercraft entry. The riverfront parks provide a host of leisure and recreational opportunities including a canoe trail, mangrove preserve, and two nature walks.  In addition, two new community centers have been constructed at the City’s Island City Park Preserve and Hagen Park.  The Hagen Park Community Center features accommodations for hosting small cultural and performing art events.  Serving to enhance Wilton Manors’ exceptional quality of life, the Wilton Manors Public Library has recently undergone a major expansion providing for a larger collection and extensive electronic resources. 

Since the early 2000s Wilton Manors has voted overwhelmingly Democratic, higher than the state and county average. This is largely due to the city's large LGBT population and minority residents. In 2018 the city became the second city in the United States (after Palm Springs, California) to have a gay mayor and all-LGBT city commission.[23]

Wilton Manors is located in Florida's 22nd U.S. congressional district. Wilton Manors citizens are represented in Congress by Ted Deutch.

The city holds nonpartisan elections to elect city officials.

Orlando Metro is 3 hours by car and Key West is 4 hours drive both via the Florida Turnpike
